How to Find the Right Integrator for Your Business

Choosing the right integrator for a visionary is a critical business decision.

An integrator is someone who can complement the visionary’s strengths and provide the operational leadership and management necessary to execute the visionary’s strategy.

A lot of entrepreneurs think they can easily be both, but speaking from experience, that’s a lot easier said than done …

While there may be some overlap between these roles, attempting to fulfill both roles simultaneously can be challenging and ultimately detrimental to the growth of the business.

It can lead to a lack of focusconfusion among team members, a failure to execute the visionary’s ideas, and eventually, burnout.

It may seem feasible at first, but eventually, you’ll feel like you’re letting down everyone on your team … including yourself.

Oftentimes, the visionary finds the hardest part of adding an integrator to the team is finding the right integrator. You want someone who believes in your mission, core values, and culture as much as you do.

Here are some key factors to consider when choosing the right integrator:

1. Alignment with the visionary’s vision and values.

The integrator must be aligned with the visionary’s vision and values. They should have a shared understanding of the company’s purpose and long-term goals, and be committed to helping the visionary achieve them.

2. Complementary skills and strengths.

The integrator should have skills and strengths that complement those of the visionary entrepreneur. They should be strong in areas that may not necessarily be the visionary’s sweet spot.

3. Track record of success.

The integrator should have a proven track record of success in their previous roles. They should have experience leading and managing teams, executing operational plans, and achieving results.

4. Cultural fit.

The integrator must fit in with the company culture and be able to work well with the team. They should be able to build strong relationships with team members and stakeholders and have excellent communication skills.

5. Chemistry with the visionary.

The integrator and visionary must have a strong working relationship based on trust, respect, and open communication. They should be able to collaborate effectively and work towards a common goal.

6. Commitment to the role.

The integrator should be committed to the role and the company’s long-term goals. They should be willing to invest time and energy into the company and be dedicated to helping the visionary achieve their vision.

7. Availability and flexibility.

The integrator should be available and flexible, willing to adjust their schedule and work hours to meet the needs of the business. They should be willing to take on new challenges and adapt to changing circumstances.

You should also think about the different types of integrators while searching for the right person … Do you want someone long-term or short-term? How involved will they be in the development of your business? What is your budget? How quickly do you want to grow?

These are all things you should consider and questions you should have answers to before beginning your search.

If someone doesn’t check every single box off your list, but you have a really good feeling about them, and the chemistry is there, trust your gut.

Sometimes someone who sees and respects the vision and mission but challenges your ideas with new ways of thinking is exactly what your business needs to scale!

You may also need to reconsider your original idea of a perfect integrator based on your growth plan and budget.

By considering these factors, visionaries can find the right integrator to help them achieve their goals and bring their vision to life.
